The Story Behind the Picture
One day there was a joyful wedding in a town called Cana. Jesus was there as a guest, along with His mother Mary and His disciples. Everyone was celebrating — until partway through the feast, something went wrong: the wine ran out, and the family would have been terribly embarrassed.
Mary quietly told Jesus, and then said to the servants, “Whatever He tells you, do it.” Jesus pointed to six large stone jars and asked the servants to fill them with water, right up to the brim. When they drew some out to serve, the water had become the very finest wine anyone had ever tasted.
This was the first of Jesus’s miracles, and it showed His glory — that He truly is the Son of God, full of power and kindness. It is a beautiful picture of what He still loves to do: He takes the ordinary and makes it wonderful, and He cares about the small moments of our lives as much as the big ones.
