Ninety-nine safe at home, but one little sheep lost — and a shepherd who would not give up. Colour the Lost Sheep with this free printable Bible page for kids.
The Story Behind the Picture
Jesus once told a story about a shepherd who had one hundred sheep. He loved and counted every one. But one day, a single little sheep wandered off and was lost.
Did the shepherd say, “Well, I still have ninety-nine”? No! He left the rest safely together and went searching everywhere for the one that was missing — over hills and through valleys — until at last he found it.
Full of joy, the shepherd lifted the little sheep onto his shoulders and carried it home. Jesus told this story to show how much God loves each one of us. He is like that good shepherd, and not one of us is ever too lost for Him to find.
“When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.” Luke 15:5
Colour & Chat
While you colour, here are a few things to wonder about together:
- The shepherd found his lost sheep — can you see it resting on his shoulders?
- Look into the distance: can you find the other sheep safe in their pen?
- The shepherd searched until he found just one. How does it feel to know God cares for you like that?
Print it, colour it, and let the good shepherd remind your family that God will always come looking for us.
