A smoking mountain, two stone tablets, and ten rules given in love. Colour Moses and the Ten Commandments with this free printable Bible page for kids.
The Story Behind the Picture
After God led His people out of Egypt, He called Moses up a tall mountain called Mount Sinai. The mountain trembled and smoked, for God Himself had come down to meet with Moses there.
On the mountain, God gave Moses two stone tablets. On them were written ten special rules — the Ten Commandments — to teach the people how to love God and how to love one another. They were a gift, showing God’s people the very best way to live.
Moses carried the tablets down the mountain to share with everyone. When Jesus came, He gathered all the commandments into two: love God with all your heart, and love your neighbour as yourself. God’s commandments still guide us today, like a loving map for our hearts.
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart.” Matthew 22:37
Colour & Chat
While you colour, here are a few things to wonder about together:
- Moses holds two stone tablets — can you see the writing on them?
- There are Ten Commandments — can you think of one rule that helps us love others?
- God gave the rules out of love. Why do you think good rules help us?
Print it, colour it, and let Moses’ tablets remind your family that God’s commandments are a gift of love.
